De Witte Gans in Dalfsen

I found this restaurant via the Michelin guide. In 25 years, this is one of the few poor experiences I have had using it.

We went out to celebrate my son's university diploma. Since our 9 year old was not having an appetizer, I asked if he could get his steak as soon as possible -- even before our appetizers were served.

Forty-five minutes later -- long after the appetizers -- I asked about the steak. The reply was: "I leave these things to the authority of the chef, and he decided that it would be better to serve all the main dishes together."

Even if, for some reason, it was not possible to serve the one meal earlier, at an absolute minimum he should have let us know. We would have skipped the appetizers in order to let our tired and hungry kid get his meal earlier.

The reply to my complaint was arrogant, as if I should be impressed by a restaurant that "leaves these matters to the chef."

Regarding the food, it was good. Nothing special for a Michelin Guide restaurant, but good.
