1. Discrimination, Lies, Ignorance, and a Poor Attitude. This is a summary of Humphrey's in a few words.

    I wanted to try Humphrey's Restaurant in advance of family visiting, but I won't be bringing my guests there after discovering how awful Humphrey's is.

    My experience started with a discount voucher (a so-called "Dinercheque") that I wanted to use for a discount on a three course meal. Humphrey's were not able to accept my "Dinercheque" due to a discriminatory policy within the small print of the voucher. A fair compromise was not offered.

    Following this, I emailed Humphrey's regarding the discriminatory policy of the voucher. Humphrey acknowledged the discriminatory policy and promised to keep my complaint in mind with regards to the policies of future offers. Furthermore, Humphrey's advised me of upcoming offer that would not include the discriminatory policy, so I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and wait to see the new offer. Unfortunately, the new offer also included the same discriminatory policy as the previous one.

    I emailed Humphrey's again to request an explanation, but my email was ignored. After waiting 48 hours, I sent a second email.

    In the eventual reply, Humphrey's explained that the discount offer had been "changed at the last moment". They did not apologise for giving me wrong information, nor for the discriminatory policy of their Restaurants, nor for ignoring the first email I sent to them.

    I sent further emails in the hope that Humphrey's would make an effort to resolve these problems, but unfortunately they just repeat the same lies and do not solve the problems. They ignored my last email entirely (sent over one week ago).

    I don't even care about the food if the absolute basics of customer service aren't in place (like treating people equally), and Humphrey's has a lot to learn in this regard, as it is easily one the worst I've ever had the misfortune of dealing with.

    Please don't support discrimination or tolerate awful customer service; Humphrey's is best avoided.

  1. Dear Mr. Brentnall, I’m sorry to read that after our email contact you still feel compelled to post a review on multiple review sites of our restaurants. We have neatly responded to your emails every time during the past weeks. That we unfortunately have not been able to give you the answers in these emails that you want to hear, we find annoying. But unfortunately we can not immediately come up with a new promotion that is suitable for your conditions. The reason that I did not respond to your last email is because this was no longer a question from you, but this was purely an email with a threat that you were going to post reviews. Of course you are free to do that, and I did not have an answer on this email except what we have communicated with you before. Once again I would like to emphasize that we certainly keep your feedback in mind with thinking up new actions.
