    Had one of the biggest disappointments with restaurant Windraak 31 on Sunday evening.
    Many times we passed by this place along the way and it looked really cozy. For my boyfriend and myself it’s been on the top list of restaurants to visit for a long time. So, finally on a sunny day after a lovely cycle we happily parked our bikes outside and walked into a spacious terrace looking for a table to sit down, relax and eat. The place looked busy but there were still many free tables. Nevertheless in a very short time we were approached by a waiter who told us that there was no place for us. According to him, the inside area of of the restaurant was completely full (? Many tables were empty) and although there were lots of tables available on the terrace the food would not be served there. So we could only sit down for a drink (around 6 p.m.) and that’s it, no option of a food for us. Naturally we were very disappointed as we made quite an effort to come to that place and were really looking forward to it. We took a little moment to decide on what we were going to do next. This is then when we saw that there was a finger food menu available on all the tables (no specification of the order times on whatsoever), so naturally we thought - if menus are there it must be possible to order some food! Moreover, we noticed that some guests sitting at outside terrace were already enjoying or ordering there food from the full menu. We called “our” waiter once again to ask him if it would be possible to order ANY finger food as stated in the menus. Surprisingly his answer was No, however, as he said, he didn’t want to send us away (what he basically was doing) we were allowed to order some snacks. He didn’t have much to say when we asked “Why can we actually not order food from the available menu? ” After us being told that no food is served on the terrace we saw other guests sitting next to us and ordering their full dinner. The waiter kept on telling us that although there were tables availabile and they actually do serve food outside, they were full… When we asked him if the reason we couldn’t order food was that we had not reserve a table, he simply answered “No, you cannot have food because we are full, and if we must serve too many tables outside it will be tough for us. Do you understand? ” Well, no, I don’t actually. In my understanding when it comes to a restaurant “full” means no table available, but there were plenty! No food service at the terrace means NO SERVICE, but again it was not the case as other guests were proudly served there meals. This restaurant also doesn’t state anywhere on their site that it is a reservation only. The feeling is that the staff doesn’t want to have extra work on their shoulders, not sure if the management is aware of it and the fact that they are missing customers and if it is a case of lazy employees, or it is more a deeply lazy attitude of the restaurant in the whole. Either way - a very big disappointment. Never have I attended such a place and never have I been turned around from a restaurant full of empty tables during dinner time just because the employees didn’t want to serve you.
