We went here for afternoon tea and found it the most disappointing experience. While the site tempts you with offers of fingers sandwiches, warm savouries, muffins, scones and brownies; the reality was not quite the same. The pot of tea consisted of a pot of hot water (which cooled fairly quickly) and a tea bag each, to be drunk from coffee cups! The finger sandwiches were half sandwiches with dried out cheese and barely ripe tomatoes. Tuna mayonnaise consisting of tons of mayonnaise and a teaspoon of tuna. There were no warm savouries in any form. No muffins. The brownie was well, umm not sure - chocolate cake? The biscuits, supermarket bought "speculaas". The scones - haha - I have no idea what they were, but two tiny blobs of pastry served with a thimble of jam and no cream of any kind whatsoever! As for the chocolates and sweets; these consisted of unwrapped chocolates and sugared gum sweets randomly thrown on the top plate of the tier. All in all, the very worst afternoon tea I have experienced in any of the 35 countries it has been my privilege to visit thus far. The only redeeming factor was the waitress who remained polite, patient and as accommodating as she was able to. The management's way of handling our complaint was to tell us that if we left the remaining food (by this time the scone blobs, some cake slivers, biscuits, chocs and sweets) we did not have to pay. I happily did as suggested. Went home and baked a delicious chocolate cake that I did not try to pass off as a brownie!
